I don't usually like to put pictures on this blog, but I felt like today was a special day. I that the swing 4 life is probably one of my favorite things. After a no show on the bus today, and a late start to miss our hitting time. I will admit I was a little frustrated. I called Kathy the lady in charge to tell her our situation. She started this and now it is done all over the country.. She said Jodi I understand, but please come... I know how important it is and so we loaded up in suburbans and headed out. We didn't take the pitching machine due to lack of room, and missing our time. When we arrived Kathy and the others rolled out the red carpet. They were so excited to see us. Giving us all a t-shirt and wanting us to hit, and write our names for the drawing. It was great. Alta high school stepped up and said Use our machine and bats, and take your turn please hit. These girls were letting us use their $300 bats. Not even a worry. SO the girls stepped in with borrowed equipment and took a few swings each. I was proud of how our girls behaved, and acted. Our senior were on the radio. They were interviewed by Amy Donaldson who is the main writer of girls prep sports in the state of Utah. She was so glad when we came and said she was waiting for us. The senior did a great job, telling about the pink game, auction, and fundraiser we did and what we did with the money. Then of course talk about the team and region did come up and they were so cute.. I was proud and you should be too. They then lined us up for a parade of teams. I will admit it isn't as fun in the gym as it is outside on the ball field. But it worked for the weather. The girls came through the curtain and they announced Payson High School, and the girls cheered. I will admit I got the cold chills and teared up a bit. I was proud. I don't think that the girls realize the impact and importance of this cause. But as Brent, Fox and I were sitting there. I told them with how many girls we have and coach. Some of them will have breast cancer. I hope they don't but odds are one or more of them will, and maybe with what we are doing we may be able to help save one of them. So thank you for your support with the pink game, and this weekend your daughters were great, and I am a proud coach...

another rainout
Whats up with this in the 12 years of coaching I am not sure I have had to reschedule as much as I have this year. But once again for those of you who didn't brave the weather at Provo, you are lucky. I am still trying to dry out. But when we returned home to Payson our fields looked great. Jeremy had them ready to go in case we could talk the Provo team into coming to Payson. But no luck. We are rescheduling this game for the 29th. We will try and brave Provo again. We will take the sophomore team that day and they will play at 4:00 and then the JV will play after. We didn't have sophomore officials today, and their field was all ready to wet to play on when they called to move ours up earlier.
Thanks for being patient with the scheduling. But at this point in time we are playing three games a week pretty much.

Make up games
The Provo rain out from today will be on April 14th at Provo, the Timp View Rain out will be played on May 6th. Lets hope for no more rain outs, I don't know where we will fit them all.
Canceled Again
We are canceled again. Provos fields are not drying out. So yes I will reschedule again, don't ask me when. So pass the word practice is in the main gym at 3:00.

An Explanation
I think you all might need a little explanation on what happened today. When a game is rained out the home team needs to notify the arbitor that the game has been changed. According to the coach and the principal of timp view. they notified the arbitor and he just forgot and didn't assign the games. So if a varsity high school team plays with and official that is not certified with the state then the game is void or could turn into a forfeit loss. So we didn't want to risk that and so we let the younger girls play. I spent between 3:30 and 4:00 with the guy from the UHSAA trying to find an official. But it didn't happen. So we are rescheduling our rescheduled game for MAy 6th at TimpView. This may change, because I do not have an in case bus scheduled for this day, and I am not sure if we will be able to get a bus or not. So as for now plan on the rescheduling on the 6th of May.
Thanks for you help and support.

Sophomore tournament is canceled
I guess you all knew that all ready. But it is officially canceled. I just received the call and wanted to let you know. We will let them have the day off today and we will see them on Monday at 3:00 after school. This is frustrating to us because the sophomores more than anybody need the tournament and deserve it for all their hard work. They are not planning on rescheduling but Brent is talking with Spanish, Springville and Salem hills to try and get something going. We want them to play their tournament. Our fields are scheduled out every weekend until the end of May except for Easter. So we will see what we can do. Thanks for your patience try and spread the word. We are going to Reschedule the tournament for May 1-2 at Salem. If they need to use Payson Fields then we will. So put it on the calendar. Should be better weather. I have only had snow on my b-day once so we may be good those days..

Swing 4 life
Thank you Thank you Thank you. All of you parents who donated and purchased. Thanks the swing 4 life was a hit. The girls had a blast. The only down fall was the weather for the second game, but we got a few good innings in. Just a reminder that next week we are going on a 3 game road trip. Mt. View Tuesday, Timp View Wed and then we have Provo. Wow we are almost half way through region. Keep looking and as soon as I know about the Sophomore tournament I will post here and let you know. Things are not looking to promising. But keep your finger crossed...
Thanks for all your help and your daughters looked good in pink.

Swing for life help
Parents I am hoping the weather cooperates to get this game in. I am really excited about it. It is such a great cause. I am encouraging you all to wear pink to the game. Dads and everyone. I am also writing to give information for a team looking for help. Woods Cross high school softball coach was diagnosed two weeks ago with a very aggressive form of Cancer. He is in the hospital and it is not looking very good for him. The Utah Softball Coaches association that we are part of is trying to put on a pink game for the team to honor and raise funds for the coach and family. If you are interested or would like to help. You can help by sending a donation or a check made out to Swing for Life to Kathy Howa 843 Lincoln Street Salt Lake City, Utah 84102. I sent some of the money that we made from our tournament up to help. It is for a good cause.
